Lost Connections chapters 20-22 talked about tips on moving depression a side in your life and start with a fresh new mindset. My personal favorite paragraphs on page 239-240 which talk about how you imagine good things that can happen to you, a family member, a friend, some you saw, even your the people you hate. If you keep this activity going for weeks, you can have a different positive mindset on people you know and people you do not know. One of my favorite paragraphs written in chapter 20 is on page 243 paragraph 3, “ There are other kinds of psychological changes people can try, too. One is prayer and another is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which encourages people to train themselves out negative patterns.” Reading that section made me feel happy and inspired. I felt inspired reading that section because it gave me an understanding that there are multiple ways of helping ones depression if that one commits to it. It also feels encouraging to pray for one another because in my opinion, it indicates that you care for them too.
The reason why I also felt happy, it was because whenever I pray, I feel glad that I can talk to the lord about helping someone in need with their situation. The same goes for myself when I need his assistance in a problem that I have gotten into. It is good to know that there are ways of curing your depression. Like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps you start fresh from depression and helps you reflect on why you are depressed and find a solution, but people attending their would need to be committed to doing the stuff that can help them. I chose this passage as my golden line because prayer gives us the idea of talking to God and knowing he has got your back and CBT could potentially fix our society with the people actually committed to solving their problems with the help of CBT.
