A lot of times when you look around, many people, especially the young people, are looking at their phones, laptops, ipads, or other electronic devices. They often tap the screen or tap the keyboard quickly. If you happened to see very close, you would see a lot of dialog boxes, a long article, or maybe interesting videos and pictures on their screens. They quickly absorb more information when they are looking through articles, texting with friends in daily life or chatting about the topic that they’re interested in online. The information they receive is multifaceted, that is, from different aspects.They can see the thoughts of different types of people, and many times the thoughts behind are the main reasons for their actions. For the younger generation, they can better discover other people’s mindsets based on the huge amount of information they can reach online. iGens can make society become better because they are welcoming a new era of open-mindedness.
Think of a world that doesn’t have poverty,has u, no more racism and discrimination
iGeners can understand others better based on the internet, and they would fight for the rights of other groups of people. In an article called Is Generation Z Glued to Technology? ‘It’s Not an Addiction; It’s an Extension of Themselves’ by Global News, John Richardson, a professor at the University of Ottawa and head of English at Ashbury College, pointed out that “Technology is less intentional and more intuitive for this generation, and their social skills are morphing into a hybrid of technology and face-to-face contact,”. This generation would communicate with their friends online. Because they don’t need to talk face to face, they communicate more than the previous generations. They also have more opportunities to reach out to people they would never meet in real life via the internet, which means they can better understand others through contact. There are a lot of different people who have been treated differently, or even discriminated against, and are now at least start to get their rights. Sexuality is a good example. iGeners have more channels to learn and even talk to others directly online, so they are more open about their sexuality because they already know enough about it. They can see the lives of people who are different from them through social platforms. Open information exchange enables more iGeners to know people who are different from their own sexual orientation and reduces their rejection and fear of unknown groups. Based on the ONS figures showing that more young people are identified as lesbian, gay or bisexual. Rudgard Olivia collated the information and summarized the research: “The report suggested that an increasingly “liberal context” in which gay relationships are seen as acceptable has led young people to have a “less binary view of sexuality”, in which there is no need to identify as exclusively gay or straight.” (Rudgard) In other words, more young people think that different sexual orientations are acceptable because modern society has made these groups more transparent. After getting to know different groups of people, iGeners would fight for their rights and make society more equal.
How can I change the world? A question that most people think but never had an official answer. Everybody has their own opinion on how they could make the world better. Most people want to see how igens could make an impact on the world. Some might say, “oh generation Z, they are weak, sensitive, and always on that phone. If technology didn’t exist, the world would be a better place.” Some could disagree with that opinion. Pankowski wrote a whole article about how generation Z will change the world. Pankowski states, “In America, it is said, success comes from working hard and making the right decisions. Gen Z doesn’t disagree. But we do have a different definition of success than other generations. We don’t want to join a faceless company and climb the corporate ladder for 40 years; 41% of us plan to start our own businesses. Luckily, we grew up with the internet, which makes starting a new company easier than ever.” This quote is saying that success comes in many ways, shapes, and forms. It does not have to follow the original rules on the path towards success. This is a positive on why technology could be good for igen because the internet can help an igens small business become a big business thanks to social media.
iGens have some characteristics that involve what the future holds in the world. Like increase in entrepreneurialism. Most teens prefer to think of a solution independently on how to make the world a better place to live in. Some prefer to start their own business and hire people who think they have potential to help them with their goals on making the world better. Devrix gives a brief statement about entrepreneurial generation regarding igens. Devrix claims, “Entrepreneurship has moved the world since the beginning of the 20th century. Today, entrepreneurs are like rock stars! The emphasis on Entrepreneurship is stronger and it is been reflected in how Generation Z operates. As a matter of fact, a telephone survey from Gallup pointed out that 45 percent of students from fifth grade and above wanted to invent something that can change the world while the rest of them wanted to become entrepreneurs. And with all the information, resources and marketplaces available today, the doors are wide open for them to conquer the marketplace.” This means that there are more igen’ers willing to share their ideas on how to make the world a good environment through business, social media, and a go getter. iGens also have a choice to work independently on their game plan to help other people understand how a business can work through igens. They can also share their ideas independently on how their project can help businesses become a big success
Most igens in a working environment operate differently compared to other generations. Like work ethic, for example, for igens it is ready to go, easy to understand, and great independence but for other generations, it is a complete different set up. Some examples are hard work, workaholic which is 60 hours a week, skeptical, and entrepreneurial. iGens are entering the workplace. Because of their high-tech and hyper-connected upbringing, they will bring a new set of behaviors, expectations, and preferences into the workplace. Jenkins gives examples on how igens could change future businesses. One of the examples Jenkins give is, “Seventy-seven percent of Generation Z say having a Millennial manager is their preference over Generation X or Baby Boomers; this is an increase from 67 percent in 2017. The workplace entrance of Generation Z will only increase the complexity of managing and working across generations, especially considering that more than 75 percent of workers identify “managing multigenerational teams” and “different work expectations across generations” as challenges. Organizations must prioritize generational training to ensure the generational gap at work doesn’t continue to expand and result in poor communication, collaboration, engagement, and more.” This paragraph states there should be different types of training based off of what generation you are born in. Like if you are a boomer, partner up with an igen and analyze how they interact in the work environment. The same thing could go with generation X and millennials. The business could teach every generation how to work with one another and put the whole generation gap behind them. Although, some prefer to work independently and that is ok too because you would not have to rely on a partner that is not contributing to the assignment.
In conclusion, igens are like other generations before them, they were born in different types of environments and operate from a different mindset. iGens mindset towards technology are reliable, fun, communication, sexuality aspect, and future business. Reliable resource for them can be online textbooks or facts about a topic. Fun with technology is good for them too because they avoid the risk of being harmed in the outside world. Communication through social media is a good thing for them because they can reconnect with friends that they have forgotten to send their information to. Expressing their sexuality aspect is good for igens because they know how to fight for their own opinions and they are comfortable sharing what they are and want to be. Future business is great for this generation because you can show the world how helpful, tasty, or inspiring your business is through social media. It also gives all ages to understand one another through partnership in a business. iGens can show the world the types of positive benefits with technology. Generations before igens should have faith in them because igens could set an example of how technology can influence the world as it continues to progress.
